What is the fairest way to split travel expenses across different currencies?
Pick one base currency for the trip and convert everything into it. Travel Splitter does exactly that: you set a rate for each currency the group will be spending, and every expense is converted to the base currency before balances are worked out. Because the rate is fixed for the whole trip, nobody ends up owing more simply because a bank rate moved on the day they happened to pay.
Where do the exchange rates come from, and can I change them?
You set them yourself when you create the trip, and the trip owner can update them at any point. Travel Splitter never fetches live rates. That is deliberate: live rates mean your balance quietly changes between the night you paid for dinner and the day you settle up. If the real rate drifts a long way, update it once and the whole trip recalculates.
Can I split expenses unequally, like by percentage or exact amounts?
Yes. Any expense can be split equally, by percentage, or by exact amounts. Percentages suit shared groceries where one person eats rather more than a sixth of it. Exact amounts suit the dinner where one person ordered the expensive steak and everyone else had pasta.
Can I leave someone out of a single expense?
Yes. Each expense carries its own list of who it applies to. The two people who shared a taxi can be the only ones on that taxi, while dinner that night stays split across the whole group. You do not need a separate trip for sub-groups.
Can I edit or delete an expense after adding it?
Yes, at any point during the trip. Balances and the settlement plan recalculate immediately, for everyone in the trip, so a receipt typed in wrong at breakfast is not something you have to work around for the rest of the week.
Which currencies are supported?
37, covering the places groups actually travel: EUR, USD, GBP, JPY, TWD, KRW, THB, CHF, NOK and so on. You choose one base currency for the trip, then add whichever others the group will be spending in. A trip can mix as many of them as it needs.
