How do I settle group trip debts with the fewest number of transfers?
Travel Splitter works it out for you. Rather than everyone paying everyone back for every coffee, it nets all the balances against each other and produces a short list of payments that clears the entire group at once. In a group of six that is usually two or three transfers instead of fifteen.
How are balances calculated?
Each expense adds what a person paid and subtracts what they owe, converted to the trip's base currency. Your balance is the difference between the two. Positive means the group owes you, negative means you owe the group, and the numbers update the moment anyone adds an expense.
Can I settle up before the trip ends?
Yes. The settlement plan is built from whatever has been logged so far, so you can clear balances halfway through and carry on. Anything added afterwards simply builds up a fresh set of balances from zero.
What happens after someone pays me back?
Mark that transfer as settled and it drops off the list. The remaining plan updates for everyone in the trip, so there is no risk of two people paying the same person for the same debt because they were looking at different screens.
Does Travel Splitter move the money?
No. It works out who should pay whom and how much, and you settle up however your group already does it: bank transfer, cash, or whichever payment app you all use. Travel Splitter never touches your money and never asks for bank or card details.
What if someone joins the trip halfway through?
Add them whenever they arrive. They only appear in the expenses you include them in, so the meals from before they showed up stay split among the people who were actually at the table.
