About Us

It all started with a Google Sheet in Iceland.

We love traveling as a group, but we quickly realized that the 'post-trip' math can be a nightmare. During a trip through Iceland and Spain with friends from both Taiwan and the EU, we found ourselves in 'Formula Hell.' We were juggling Icelandic Króna, Euros, and New Taiwan Dollars, trying to figure out who owed what across three different currencies.

We looked for an app to help, but we ran into two big problems: either our friends didn't want to download yet another app, or the 'pro' features required a monthly subscription. For someone who only travels once or twice a year, paying a monthly fee felt like a tax on our vacation.

So, we built Travel Splitter.

We wanted a tool that works for everyone, from the 'Excel friend' who loves recording every receipt to the 'chill traveler' who just wants to see the final total. No app downloads, no subscriptions, and no more massive spreadsheets. Just a simple, fair way to split the bill so you can focus on the next destination.

What we believe

    Nobody should have to download an app.

    Everyone joins from a shared link in their browser. Your friends see the balances and add their own expenses without installing anything or creating an account.

    Exchange rates should be yours.

    You set the rate for each currency when the trip is created, and the trip owner can update it at any time. We never use live rates, so a balance does not shift between the dinner and the settle-up.

    Settling up should take as few payments as possible.

    Travel Splitter works out the smallest set of transfers that clears everyone's debts, so the group sends a handful of payments instead of everyone paying everyone.

    It should stay out of your way.

    Add an expense in a few taps, split it equally, by percentage, or by exact amounts, and get back to the holiday. It installs to your home screen and opens fast, even on weak hotel Wi-Fi.
