Getting started

Starting a trip, inviting people without an app download, and what it costs.

Do my friends need to download an app?

No. Travel Splitter runs in the browser. You share a trip link in your group chat, and your friends can open it, see the balances, and add expenses straight away. No install, no account, no waiting for someone to finish a 200 MB download on hotel Wi-Fi.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can create a trip, log expenses, and settle up without ever signing in. Signing in with your email is optional and exists for one reason: so your trips follow you to a new phone or a different browser. If you stay signed out, your trips stay tied to the browser you created them in.

How do I invite people to my trip?

Every trip has a share link and a short trip code. Send the link in your group chat, or read out the code to anyone who would rather type it in. Either one opens the same trip, and whoever joins can start adding expenses immediately.

Can I install it like an app, even on a patchy connection?

Yes. Travel Splitter is a Progressive Web App, so you can add it to your home screen and open it like any other app, with no app store involved. It loads from cache, so a weak hotel or airport signal will not leave you staring at a blank screen. Adding and syncing expenses still needs a connection, but the app itself opens instantly either way.

Is Travel Splitter free?

Yes, completely. Every feature is unlocked for everyone. There is no subscription, no per-trip fee, and no trial that quietly expires halfway through your holiday.

What makes Travel Splitter different from Splitwise or other apps?

Most expense apps are built for tracking debts with the same people indefinitely. Travel Splitter is built around a single trip. In practice that means four things: your friends never have to download anything, multiple currencies are handled with rates you control rather than rates that move, it installs to your home screen and opens fast on bad networks, and it is free.
